DEPAZ
Former capital of Martinique, the city of Saint-Pierre hosted many distilleries until the eruption of Mount Pelée in 1902 wiped out the locality from the map.
The Depaz family also disappeared in the cataclysm, with the exception of Victor who studied in Bordeaux. At the end of his studies, without money, he returned to Saint-Pierre and bought a piece of land in 1917. It was at the foot of the volcano that the first vintages of the distillery were born. At that time, Victor Depaz also built a residence in memory of his childhood and founded a family.
In 1922, Depaz rum obtained its first medal. The following generation perpetuates the paternal traditions by producing AOC rums which owe their aromas to the volcanic earth of the locality, to the spring waters of great purity and to an old machine which gives the estate a unique character.
Depaz joined forces in 1989 with the distributor Bardinet to develop its sales.
